Description:

Provisional ID: Synthemis primigenia < http://www.papua-insects.nl/insect%20ord... >. The species has a wide distribution on New Guinea and the low number of records is due to the lack of fieldwork.

Habitat:

Perched on yellow walking iris (Neomarica longifolia) in a large semi-urban yard & garden near a disturbed patch of remnant forest. It is not a particularly wet area.

Notes:

Vivid green eyes look like lights in the afternoon sun.
