Description:

Small, intensely red-capped mushroom. Yellowish margin on cap. Pore surface with yellowish tinge. Red stem.

Habitat:

Temperate forest. Nolin Lake State Park, Kentucky.

Thank you for the suggestion! It has some similarities, but I think too many differences. My mushroom seems to have a thicker stem and the pore surface is not totally yellow or orange as with Boletellus obscurecoccineus. Additionally, I do not believe it occurs in North America.

See if this fits the description of the Rhubarb Bolete (Boletellus obscurecoccineus).
