Red Russula

Russula persanguinea

Description:

Viscid caps about 60mm wide, these mushrooms were a beautiful deep red in the centre fading to a paler shade towards the margin. The margins appeared striated. Gills were crowded, of equal length stretching from stipe to margin. They were a clear white as was the stipe.

Spotted growing under a pine tree
