Eastern Fence Lizard, male

Sceloporus undulatus

Description:

Small lizard with keeled scales. Grayish-brown back with zig-zag patterning. Some orange on tail. White belly with light blue on sides. Bright blue patch on throat (see photo 2) identifies it as an adult male, in breeding season coloration. Camouflages well with the tree; I didn't see it until I was right on top of it.

Habitat:

My back yard. Found on a wood stump bordering a flower bed (photo 3), then climbed up the trunk of a dead tree.
