White Pelicans

Pelecanus erythrorhynchos

Description:

White pelicans were spending a warm December afternoon preening themselves and sleeping near the marina, waiting for any fish parts to be tossed into the water from the boats and fish markets. One pelican was observed to have a blue wing tag, most likely indicating that it had been a patient at a wildlife rehab facility in the past.

Habitat:

salt water bay/channel
