Oxybelis aeneus
This snake measures abuot 14" long. As you can see by the size of the barbed wire it is a tiny snake. It looks like the brown vine snake but the snout isn't quite as pointy as an adult and for that reason I am unsure of this I.D.
Tropical dry forest in NW Costa Rica 5 weeks into the rainy season.

Thanks Cindy! Thanks Anne! I agree with both of you!
Fantastic photos - beautiful little snake.
Beautiful shots! These snakes are so cute :)
Estoy de acuerdo Ignacio. Cuando la cabeza paso por el alambre de pua no podia creer que lindo imagen era. Seria una tatuaje increible!
OOOPS Geodialist....been uploading so many arthropods I made a mistake. Changing it now! Thanks!
Beautiful photos, but this spotting is classified incorrectly as an arthropod. Should be a reptile. (My apologies for the typos!)
Mae que excelentes fotos. En especial la segunda
Thanks Atul! Thanks Karen! I wish you could see the zoom on the face in my compu! There are touches of green down the entire length of it's body and a really light green on the top of the head that don't translate in the PN photo.
Beautiful!
