A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Aedes sp.
The body of this insect is about 4mm in length. The legs are longer and are typically black with white banding (or may be all black). Females have a long, slender proboscis through which they draw blood meals. Males have feathery antennae and feed on flower nectar.
Mosquitoes inhabit a wide range of habitats, but are often found in higher densities near calm water.
