Aedes sp.

Description:

The body of this insect is about 4mm in length. The legs are longer and are typically black with white banding (or may be all black). Females have a long, slender proboscis through which they draw blood meals. Males have feathery antennae and feed on flower nectar.

Habitat:

Mosquitoes inhabit a wide range of habitats, but are often found in higher densities near calm water.
