Osprey

Pandion haliaetus

Description:

We have chicks! At least 3, possibly 4 hatchlings. Very large, distinctively shaped raptors. Slender bodies with long, narrow wings and long legs. Ospreys fly with a marked kink in their wings, making an M-shape when seen from below. Ospreys are brown above and white below. Their heads are white with a broad brown stripe through the eye.

Habitat:

Nearly any body of water: saltmarshes, rivers, ponds, reservoirs, estuaries, and even coral reefs.

Notes:

I know it's hard to see so I added the arrows. I wish I could get closer - even the 400mm lens doesn't cut it. I can't wait until they grow enough to see over the rail :)
