This coatis situation was not sad at all, he was very happy and treated very well. He had been raised by people at a very young age when the villagers found him abandoned in the jungle for whatever reason. Even when he wasn't on his leash he wanted to be in the villager's company and play with the people, the only reason he was on a leash was because of how many people were around that day and the tribe was worried about his safety. And thanks for the tip, I took the second photo down.
Hi mcgarriv & welcome to the community. As Maria has advised, we do request that the organism is focus of all photographs so we would request that you crop the human from the second image as much as you can. Although this is a wild animal it is being kept as a pet so I have moved it to the pets category for you.
Welcome to Project Noah! Nice spotting and description, although a bit sad it is on a leash and held captive. Your second photo shows clearly how humans can approach him but we try to keep humans out of the Noah postings as much as possible to focus on the wildlife; just a tip for the future. Thanks for posting!
