Polites peckius
The Peck’s Skipper, a grass skipper, is commonly found in urban areas, more often than other skippers, and can easily be distinguished by its blotchy gold hindwing pattern.
Southern Canada - northern U.S. - south to Georgia. Flight: June - September. Open grassy areas; meadows, marshes, lawns, woodland edges, gardens and roadsides. Host Plants: Rice cutgrass (Leersia oryzoides) & other grasses.
