thanks Ava for you advise...I will try to do my best...I do not spend alot of time on this site so if there is one that is not taken off the unknown list, it is not intentional...I will check it all over when I have a little time to spend on it. I think googling the common names will help link to the scientific names if someone is very interested in the species, in my opinion.

Hi Susan, #1 -- I'm in love with your grackle! #2 I'm looking through all your spottings, and they are really great. What I want to ask you to do is, where you know the species of your spotting, which you do for many of them, please can you look up & add the scientific name so that we can take this off of the "unknown" list. Because we have a global user base & sometimes many different common names for the same species, the system uses the scientific name to link similar spottings - which also means this may come up in the thumbnails on other spottings.

I love when somebody brings a new vision of a well known subject. Your grackle can be "common", but this photo certainly is not. Congratulations.

PS - May I know which camera you use?

Great spotting -- that frontal view is the best, and this has a favorite theme of mine; birds and barbed wire.
