Nephila clavipes
Abdomen has a yellow to orange gradient from proximal to distal and have bilaterally symmetric white spots. The cephalothorax is white and ridged, with the depressions appearing black. The legs are gradient from brown to yellow to orange to black, with tufts of black hairs just before each joint. The chelicerae (pincers) appear black. Approximately 4-6 inches long.
It's web is anchored from the side of a building to the building's decorative shrubs, and has an area about two feet across and two feet high. The web remained there (after sighting) for approximately two months before it was disturbed and did not rebuild.
