Bornean Gossamer-winged Butterfly

Arhopala borneensis

Description:

A small butterfly resting on forest trail pebbles. It is closely related to oakblues. This is probably a male. Very little is known about this butterfly. It's brown wings looks dull but that is just it's underside, the concealed upper side of it's wings are filled with scales that reflect metallic blue-green light beautifully. This butterfly is characterized by it's acute wing apex, bright metal blue mark at it's hindwings, shiny green upperside wings and short hindwing tails.

Habitat:

Close to the ground in Rainforest Discovery Center (RDC), Sandakan, Sabah. Endemic only to Borneo.

You are just in luck, Leuba.
I cannot show you how they fly but I have a short video showing a closely related species flying while displaying their beautiful backs.
