Tiger Fly

Description:

This brown fly has a striped and spotted abdomen. It caught a Syrphid Fly (Sphaerophoria sp.) and was eating it. The video shows it after the attack. Another common name is Killer Fly.

Habitat:

On plants in the backyard. "Native to Europe. Introduced in the early 1800s. Found in northeastern and western United States and adjacent Canada." - BugGuide
