White-striped Golden True Beefly

Description:

A small "furry" beefly with a single white stripe on either side of the thorax and a golden triangular abdomen. Wings were long (can be just seen in pic 2). Eyes were large and brown. The bee had a long and slender proboscis as can be seen in pic 1 and visibly long antennae (pic 3). Legs were long with dark tarsi..

Habitat:

Spotted feeding on tea-tree flowers in a nature reserve.

Notes:

Beeflies are so called because of their furry bee-like bodies. Family Bombyliidae

Tea-tree sure do attract a diversity of insects, might have to start paying more attention to them :)
