Description:

One of the heaviest flying birds, the adult mute swan has a wholly white plumage with an orange bill bordered with black and a pronounced knob atop the bill. As can be seen here the white feathers on the head and neck of the adult are often stained by iron and tanins from the water they fish in.

Habitat:

The shores of a large Central European lake.

Notes:

Part of a large resident population.
