ruddy turnstone

Arenaria interpres

Notes:

Huge flock hanging out by the pair near my house. every time i go i see more and more of these poor shorebirds stuck in fishing line or missing limbs. today i saw 3 turnstones in fishing line of with missing limbs and i wasn't even trying. also i found 5 injured royal terns. two had their tongue hanging out of a split bottom beak one with a missing upper mandible and another i assumed either had a breathing problem or a hook inside of his stomach. yesterday there was a very sickly juvenile gannet lying on my beach and a policeman showed up and scared it off. (the rehabilitator i called was ticked!!!) and we get loons and other sea ducks up in the weed line washed way up on the beach in the huh tides. it makes me want to go to the beach with a big net and catches all the injured shorebirds and cut the fishing lines off. The only problem is i don't know if i need a rehabilitates permit to catch them.
