Chamerion latifolium

Description:

pink to lavender, short spike with flower resembling a delicate orchid. 4 outer petals, more like a sheath, shaped like leaves. Then 4 rounded petals narrowing to the center. Long stamen. Flower coming off the stalk.

Habitat:

Riverbanks, Alpine, wetland and meadows. Found mostly in Pacific Northwest.

Notes:

Spotted on a trail to Monte Cristo near Mt Baker
