Ring-necked duck

Aythya collaris

Description:

This ring-necked duck is a striking duck with a black head, chest and back. Sides are gray to nearly white. A light blue bill with a bold white ring and second ring at base of bill. Top of head is peaked. It was named ring-necked duck because of the cinnamon collar which is difficult to see.

Habitat:

This ring-necked duck was spotted in a pond at the Top Hill Reserve State Park in Florida.
