Male house sparrows have gray heads with rusty streaks, white cheeks, and a black bib. Females are a patterned brown above and pale gray-brown below.
They tend to live around humans in cities and farms.
We rarely get house sparrows in our backyard here in Minnesota, mostly due to the type of feed we offer and that we use tube feeders. They are not native to North America, but their populations have spread across much of the world.
