Canyon Towhee

Melozone fusca

Description:

Brown. Sparrow-like. House finch??? Somehow the head is not looking very finch like...but Mexican birds are all unknown to me. There may be a touch of colour at the throat.

Habitat:

Hotel in Guadalajara. This old-fashioned sprawling hotel had lovely grounds...I wish I had an entire day to have spent just strolling around the various places , the lawns, the niches , the fountain areas...etc., I could have seen so many more birds.Heart of the city too, by the way.

Notes:

First shot has been cropped.

Thank you, jazz.mann...it is lovely to be able to ID a bird I may never be lucky enough to see again. Sorry I missed your suggestion and did not update for so long.

This MIGHT be a Grasshopper Sparrow but don't quote me! Look 80% of the way down this page at the sparrows: https://www.mexicanbirding.com/birds-of-...
