thank you CoastalJHawk for your comment, but I'm completely sure that it was an algae. There were lots of these on the shore. It would be awesome to find a shark egg case!

Kind of looks like the shape of a skate's egg case. I remember finding them washed ashore but they were black. Interesting find.
