Ebony Jewelwing

Calopteryx maculata

Description:

This beautiful damselfly is about 39–57 mm (1.5–2.2 in) in length. Males have metallic blue-green bodies and black wings. The colors of a female are similar but are much more subdued.

Habitat:

I usually find this damselfly along clean streams in wooded to semi-wooded areas.

This is a damselfly species I'd very much like to photograph someday.
