Description:

It is most common at lakes and at sluggish rivers with muddy bottoms. In this species the thorax and the face are olive. There are two dark stripes along each shoulder. The abdomen is yellowish with dark rings, while segments 7-9 are reddish-brown. The appendages are yellow.

Habitat:

Riparian meadow.

Notes:

This one kept landing down the path just out of reach of the camera, but finally decided I and my camera were no threat.

You are right. Went back to researching and found a better match in the club-tails. I am a novice at dragonflies, so had the wrong impression about the variance of club-tails. Thanks for making me look again.

Hmmm, I'm not sure this is an Eastern Pondhawk.
