Scrub Hickory

Description:

Small to medium tree with grayish bark. I saw leaflets of three and five but not the seven suggested in my plant guide. The underside of the leaves had a rust coloring to it.

Habitat:

White sand scrub along the barrier island of central Florida. The tree was growing alongside a Hercules club and saw palmetto.
