Northern Water Snake

Nerodia sipedon

Description:

Looks like a copperhead, but harmless.

Habitat:

Water

Notes:

This water snake peeked from under the rock just to pose for his picture. Actually, he probably needed to breathe and got tired of waiting for me to leave. This one is confused with the poisonous Copperhead, but looking into those non-slit eyes, he was just a minnow munching look -alike.
