Sharpshooter

Graphocephala versuta

Description:

This is the less seen red form of this insect which is normally greener. http://bugguide.net/node/view/512245

Habitat:

shrubs, fields

Notes:

This beautifully colored sharpshooter was the little gem of today's spottings. My first time spotting this type at a nearby park that I frequent.

Emma though they look almost the same I don't believe mine is coccineal. Note the difference in pattern on head and pronotum. Click on my link in Description area to see the red form of the versuta. (according to bugguide.net)
