Garrulus glandarius
Medium size corvid, of 32 to 35 cm long, and wingspan of 54 to 58 cm. It has very characteristic colours, including a white rump that is the basic detail to identify it in flight. It also has very striking blue colour in tertiary feathers. It is a very noisy bird. It is omnivorous feeding specially on acorns, that accumulate during autumn to eat them during the hard winter. It is not a very sociable corvid, gathering in smal family groups.

Thanks Leuba, the pine trees are Scots Pines (Pinus sylvestris) although we called them also red pines
Thanks fenystar
Wow
great pics arlanda ! - love the touches of blue in the bird's wings. The bark on the tree in pic # 3 is also a great colour and looks very interesting - it's obviously some kind of pine? I just noticed the lichens as well...
Thanks again Sachin
nice,
I just added one more pic to show what I usually see of this bird
Thanks Sachin, it is a very intelligent bird and usually I only see its white rump when it is flying away. I am very happy with these pics
Spectacular bird, lovely series,
