The bird has adapted with remarkable success to the Urban environment and even in densely populated cities it is a common sight. It is regarded as an important pest by farmers.
The bird is so common that from antiquity it has been making appearance in fables and paintings. Because of its terrestrial feeding habits it can usually be found walking or hopping in search of insects and other food on ground.
