Least sandpiper

Calidris minutilla

Description:

Identification of this bird was a subject of debate among my birding friends. The light was difficult so it was not easy to see if the bird had yellow or black (or shadowed or muddy) legs. Finally, they agreed on least rather than Western sandpiper. And the bird just foraged away, unconcerned how the humans were identifying it.

Habitat:

Huntington Beach State Park
