Leptophis depressirostris
Two-toned green snake with yellow-rimmed, black eyes. Red tongue.
This snake was spotted with its head popping out of a bush on the side of the main road, just south of Puerto Viejo.
Another person traveling with me touched a branch on the far side of the bush and the snake popped very far out of the bush - no idea how long it really was, though.
Thanks. The best part was, since I was holding the camera, getting to coax someone else to shake a branch to get the snake to move in the video - he moved very fast.
Wow, I can't believe I totally forgot I had a video of this guy to post as well. Here it is.
This is another Leptophis sp

Thanks everyone for the comments.
I'll keep asking locals if they might know what kind of snake I can find in the bushes, but it seems like most things I've come across here in Costa Rica that have a name, have a local name - not one you can look up in Wikipedia or elsewhere online.
Blends so well, it makes me uncomfortable about walking through deep brush!
not an eyelash viper. looks like some kind of vine snake or tree snake.
Looks very cute with nice coloration. the bluish head. is it the normal color?
