Medium sized gray grasshopper with slightly darker banding on the legs. Vague mottling on the wings and body. Hindwings are black with a yellow margin (sorry, no photo of the wings). This species is variable in color.
Rural yard with long grass.
No grasshoppers were harmed in the taking of these photos! I didn't get to see what color the wings were and I didn't want to injure the grasshopper. It didn't seem able to open its wings to fly away from me and only clumsily hopped.
