Black and Yellow Lichen Moth

Lycomorpha pholus

Description:

About 15mm long.

Habitat:

Grassy area near rocky shore of small reservoir.

Notes:

When I first saw this moth it was on a plant, Partridge Pea, I think. I couldn't get a focus on it and when I tried to manipulate the plant for a better shot, it flew away. I tried to watch to see where it landed, but quickly lost sight of it. Minutes later, I saw another one flying and carefully watched it until it landed on my shirt. Sometimes, it's better to be lucky than good.
