Leaf-footed Bug

Leptoglossus oppositus

Description:

It was a damp, cool day and there were almost no arthropods to be seen. I found this Bug hiding in the corner of a railing. I am glad I stopped to take some pictures since I did not have a record of finding this species before now. Reddish brown with small white dots on the wings. Orange and red antennae. Large "leaf" with scalloped edges and a white dot on each hind leg.

Habitat:

Temperate forest. Hiding on a man-made structure. Rockwood County Park, Virginia.
