American toad

Bufo americanus

Description:

A toad. Brown with splotched pattern, rough bumpy skin. I find this toad nightly by the window of my sliding door, where he eats insects that are attracted to the lights.

Habitat:

Woodland areas where they can camoflauge in the leaves.

Notes:

This toad shows up by the window of my sliding door at night where he eats insects that are attracted to the light. Each year, small hatchling toads appear in late April, grow into large toads by midsummer, and disappear when it gets cool in autumn.
