Ogcodes sp
This shiny small fly was about 5 mm long. It had a small head ( eyes mostly), a shiny hunched thorax, a narrow waist and a rounded abdomen with each segment having white margins. The wings were longer than the abdomen.
Spotted on young eucalyptus trees. http://bie.ala.org.au/species/urn:lsid:b...
Very distinct looking flies! they seemed a little slower to react than the smaller flies. The larvae of these flies are said to parasitise spiders. I will have to look for more information on these..and identify the species. Family Acroceridae
