Vivid Dancer

Argia vivida

Description:

The Vivid Dancer is a small damselfly. There isn't much out there on this one. This particular one was about 1 1/2" to 2" long and it constantly flew in and out trying to catch bugs. I started noticing these and several other types of damselflies and dragonflies after I added water features in my yard recently.

Habitat:

Streams and seeps; hot and cold springs.

Notes:

I broke out the big gun for this but I've forgotten how to use it. It took me an hour and several tries to get two good shots. Not to mention trying to keep my dog from eating it. Yeah, she protects me from the bees, bugs, snakes, birds, shadows, rocks and any thing that could possibly get close to me.

Ischnura heterosticta lives in australia, not Texas. This is more likely a female dancer, genus Argia. Although it's very hard to tell the spicies.

Thank you, Alice. I'm just not sure if I've tagged it correctly.
