Euplectes ardens
Red-collared widowbirds are found in grasslands and bush clearings in Eastern and Southern Africa. They are known for their long tails and brilliant red badges, both which act as sexual ornaments. Males’ acquisition of territory is an important determinant in their access to mates. They have a wide range and there is little concern in terms of conservation status.

Thanks Maria
Thank you, harsuame, Jolly and OnengDyah! Thanks for catching the error, Scott. That appeared above the mission I wanted in the list and I clicked it by mistake. Corrected now.
Cool..
Beautiful series Maria. Gorgeous bird
Hi Maria. This has been added to the Brooding behavior mission for Arthropods by accident I think.
Grandiosas secuencia muy bella ave
Thanks, Jeannette, Emily and Leanne. I found them really beautiful but difficult to get good shots of as they were usually far away. When I saw the two males challenging each other (I think), I would have loved to get good shots but most were really blurry.
Beautiful!
Wow what a unique bird! I've never seen one! It looks like it has a red bonnet! Great series and superb spotting!
Amazing bird :)
