Western Terrestrial Garter Snake

Thamnophis elegans

Description:

Found swimming in a swamp on Kalispell Island. Used musk to try to deter me!

Habitat:

Forest swamp. Full of tadpoles and plenty of other garter snakes.

Notes:

Not sure which type of garter this is; its markings seemed very muted. Help me out!

It's got to be some species of gartersnake, but I'm not familiar with the ones up there.
