Painted Lichen Moth

Hypoprepia fucosa

Description:

The forewing of the Painted Lichen Moth, Hypoprepia fucosa, is a pale red, which blends to be yellow in some parts of the moth. There are gray stripes which are placed vertically along the forewing.

Habitat:

The larvae feed on lichen, algae, and moss on trees.

Notes:

A nice thing to see when nothing else was coming at the light! Although the fourth shot is blurry, I think it provides an educational view on how these moths fly.
