Red squirrels are small squirrels, reddish in color with a white belly and throat.
Typically these squirrels are found in conifer or mixed conifer/hardwood forests. They have been expanding their range, however, into forest dominated by hardwoods. I took this photo in our backyard (actually on the deck) just a few minutes ago and we are in a deciduous zone.
