Blue Dasher dragonfly (female)

RIP, Blue Dasher! Backlighting is usually challenging. I only mentioned the color distortion in the photos as my lame excuse in case my ID is incorrect! That being said, I'm fairly confident the dragonfly is, or was, a Blue Dasher.

Sadly - no. It had already expired. It was hard to get a good picture using my phone and lit from behind.

Hi, Lillian! First, were you able to rescue the dragonfly? Second, although color is a little distorted in your photos I'm fairly certain the subject is a female Blue Dasher.
