Campbel Family, it's great you have the series of photos of this insect. It is very helpful for identification if multiple images are taken. These are very neat mantids! They are often mistaken for Walkingsticks.

I think I must disagree with you TKBotting. I believe this is a Grass-like Mantid. If you look at the shape of the head, the body position in the second photo, and the length between the second two sets of legs and the front legs, you can see there is a difference in shape from the Walkingsticks:

I'm not sure of species, but this guy is a walking stick -- I don't think he's a mantis!
