Fifteen-spotted Lady Beetle

Anatis labiculata

Description:

About 7-9 millimeters in body length, nearly circular in shape, and colored as shown.

Habitat:

Native habitat at the zoo is mixed conifer forest with oak and aspen as well (~7,000 ft. elevation), and understory vegetation.

Notes:

This species darkens considerably with age, such that old specimens appear nearly spotless.
