Eilema/Collita griseola
The wingspan is 32–40 mm. Grey wings with yellowish borders and head. Big black eyes.
A fairly common species throughout Belgium, with a preference for sandy soils. The larva feeds on various lichens growing on trees and bushes. Hibernates as a larva and pupates among plant debris. The adults fly in one, sometimes two generations a year; from beginning of June towards September, very rarely till late October. They come to light and sugar
Yes, dhobern. I agree that it looks like griseola so I add it as such in my spotting. Many thanks for helping me ID my moths! :-)
Probably Eilema griseola, but it's hard to be sure without a more directly overhead view to judge the wing shape. The fact that the wings are not tightly wrapped around the abdomen rules out many species in the genus, and the way that the yellow edge tapers toward the tip looks good for griseola.
I think it was grey creamy but with the leaves and the lack of light of that day is hard to say. I hope I can find the ID :-)
