Description:

About 20-24 millimeters in body length, colored as shown. Scoliids in general are very hairy wasps, frequently mistaken for bees.

Habitat:

Taking nectar from milkweed, near an artificial pond surrounded by willow, cottonwood. Surrounding landscape is very dry, degraded shortgrass prairie.

Notes:

Scoliids are parasites of white grubs (scarab beetle larvae).
