While green stink bugs are common in the Chicago area and do great plant damage, it sounds like the brown one is fairly new and only does minor damage. Interesting reading on the link from the suggestion box. Thanks for sharing the photo Caren

Looks like a stinkbug, which can't cause any sort of harm to humans.
