Very cool stuff! I am friends with Bob Merz and have been following this project closely. The true test will be finding beetles next summer. I hope they catch on!
I was doing a post reintroduction survey for the Zoo when I found this. The beetle found was without any notches in the elytra meaning that it was not one reintroduced in June and was probably an offspring. Needless to say, it was quite an exciting find!
Hi there. Can you tell us more about this spotting? I know St. Louis Zoo has been monitoring the entire state for several years in search of the ABB, and has recently gotten permission to do a small release to see if they can get them re-established in a certain area. Are you part of this project or did you locate this beetle independently? Thanks! :-)

Lovely clear photo of an interesting beetle!
Please can you add the scientific name as this helps us to use the data. Thanks!

Awesome spotting. I'd be thrilled if you added this, and your other beetle spottings to my Beetles! mission.
