Turquoise Broad-nosed Weevil

Description:

The turquoise coloring of this weevil is due to thousands of tiny round scales covering the body, legs and head. As the weevil ages, it will often lose lots of its scales, resulting in a more mottled appearance (as on the head). About 1 cm in length. Family Curculionidae, Subfamily Entiminae.

Habitat:

Found on bushes along the highway between San Cristobal de Las Casas and Tuxtla Gutierrez, Km 18.5, 1164 meters.
