Green Mountain Grasshopper

Miramella alpina

Description:

Small (male about 18mm; and female 25mm) predominantly green, short-horned grasshopper from montane pastures. It is predominantly bright green, with two black stripes on sides. It does not fly and sports very short brown scaly elytra. The lower side of it's femur is red, and the tibia yellow.

Habitat:

Montane pastures about 1600m of altitude, Jura range. Rarely found at altitudes lower than 1000m.
